Different Market Types

Head to Head (H2H, Match Odds) - This is a standard two sided bet, either team A or team B will win. This is offered on sports that don’t have a specific draw result. Generally a draw result on this market will result in a dead heat split.

Win-Draw-Win (WDW, Match Odds) - This is a standard three sided bet, where the results can be team A, team B or a draw as in Soccer where a draw result is an actual tallied result. Your selection must be correct to win as there will be no dead heat payout on a draw result.

Margin (Big Win Little Win) - This market is offering to pick the margin bracket by which a team will win by. For example Tigers 1 to 12 means you are betting the Tigers will win by any amount between 1-12 inclusive. For Titans V Tigers, a result of 10-16 would be a win, as the Tigers have won, and the margin was 6. A result of 10-24 would not be a winning bet, as although the Tigers have won, they won by 14 and that is outside the selected margin. Some bookies will offer this market with a draw option, others will mark a draw as a loss.

Line (Or Pick You Own Line/PYOL) - This market refers to where the bookmaker has “drawn the line” ie. a handicap on both teams that would result in a roughly 50/50 chance of winning or losing. This will look like Tigers +1.5 or whatever line you have selected if you are picking your own. This means that the Tigers will start with a notional 1.5 extra points for this bet to win. The reason for half points is to remove the ambiguity of a draw so there will always be a winner. For Titans V Tigers a result of 10-10 would be a win, as once 1.5 is added to the Tigers score they are the winner.

Anytime or First Try/Goal Scorer (ATS or FTS) - This is a market of who will score a goal/try at any time during the match, or the first depending on the market. The overrounds in these markets can be quite large. Most bookies will include extra time, and offer a refund if the selection doesn’t make the final cut for the game.

Total Match Points (Total Points Over/Under can also be offered as pick your own total) - This market is offered as another line, where the bookmaker thinks either result, over or under the line, will have a 50/50 chance of winning or losing. It refers to the total number of points scored in a match between both teams regardless of which team actually wins the match. This may also be offered by team, by an exact figure, or in bands/ranges.

Race to Points (Race to X) - This market refers to which team (or neither) will reach a set point total first, regardless of how that score is achieved or when it occurs during the match.

To Win Either Half - This market refers to one team beating another in scoring points in a half. Both halves are classified as separate events, so a result of 4-10 at HT would mean team B has won the first half. If the final score is 8-10 then team A has won the second half despite losing the match. This is because they have scored 4 points in the second half whilst team B have scored zero. By betting on a team in this market, you are betting that your selection will win at least one of the halves.

To Lead at HT and fail to win - This market is as described, however it can also be useful to review the odds on promotions that payout to this condition at other bookies.

To Win to Nil - This market refers to a team winning in a shutout or by clean sheet, i.e. the opposing team will score zero points and your selection will win.

Tri Bet - This market uses a set margin to split the outcome into 3 possible results. It may look like, team A over 15.5, either team under 15.5, team B over 15.5. This means that you can pick which team will win by 15.5 points or more, or bet that the game will be won by either team, but by less than 15.5 points. A Tri Bet market may have multiple margin line options.

Both Teams to Score (BTTS) - This market is as described but is relevant in that it can often be used in SGM’s to lockout certain combinations. For example a BTTS yes selection combined with a draw selection means that a score of 0-0 is locked out, as both events cannot occur.

Alternatives - This is used in conjunction with other markets such as totals or margin. It provides a range of options covering every outcome the bookie wishes to provide a market for rather than specifically the main line or total.

Exact - This is used in conjunction with other markets such as totals or margin. It provides a range of options covering every outcome the bookie wishes to provide a market for rather than specifically the main line or total. However in this case, these are specific exact points ie. Tigers to win by exactly four.

First Half Markets - These are markets offered specific to the first half only and generally include all the standard options, line, total, margin etc.

Second Half Markets - These are markets offered specific to the second half only and generally include all the standard options, line, total, margin etc.

Halftime/Fulltime - This market refers to who will be winning at halftime followed by who will be winning at full time, picked as a pair. For example, Tigers/Tigers is referring to the tigers leading at both HT and FT, where as Tigers/Titans would refer to the Tigers leading at HT and the Titans leading at FT.

Handicap Markets - See line or PYOL

Doubles Markets - These are markets offered specific as a combination generally include all the standard options, line, total, margin etc. HT/FT is the most popular.

Time of Markets - These are markets offered specific to a certain event occurring before, after or at a certain time. These can be useful to review the odds on promotions that payout to this condition at other bookies.

Player Markets (Player Props, Props, Player Proposition) - These are markets offered specific to a certain event occurring with a certain player. Usually a line, over, under etc, these can often be found to make arbs or middles.
