How to bet less than $5 at betfair

The minimum stake for any bet on Betfair is $5. This can be a problem sometimes, but there is a way around it…

Let’s say you want to lay $2.38 at odds of 42. To do this you would follow these steps:

1. Click on the lay odds, add a stake of $5, but then reduce the odds in the betslip so that they are much lower than 42. For example, you could place a $5 lay at odds of 2.00.
2. Submit your bet. It will be placed but unmatched.
3. Edit your bet by increasing the stake by the amount that you want to lay. In this case i would edit the stake to $7.38.
4. When you submit this change you will now have two open bets. they will both be at odds of 2.00, one will have a $5 stake and the other a $2.38 stake.
5. Cancel the bet with the $5 stake
6. Edit the odds on the other bet to 42. It will now be matched.

For back bets you can follow the same procedure, except that you would increase the stakes to 1000 rather than reducing them to 2.00
