Should i back the same horse at multiple bookies?

Every Wednesday & Saturday (and sometimes during the week as well), there are multiple bookies offering 2nd/3rd refund on the same races.

These promos have a great EV, so it makes sense to want to take advantage of as many of them as possible. The questions is, should you bet on the same horse at all of the bookies? Or is it better to hedge your bets by backing a couple?

The answer depends on what your priority is.

If your goal is to maximise expected value (EV) then you should take the best available match at each bookie. If that means that you have multiple bets on the same horse then so be it.

However, that approach could lead to high qualifying losses if the horse doesn't place.

If you would prefer to minimise the chances of a loss you should sacrifice some EV and back a couple of different horses. This will give you a smoother ride - less big losses, but also smaller wins

Whichever strategy you prefer, we recommend sticking to a maximum of two horses. If you spread the bets too much the qualifying losses start to eat too much into the potential profits.
